Returning to a favorite subject, I find myself once again depicting the beautiful waterlily. I am fascinated by the fact that its ephemeral beauty springs forth from the mud. This is soothing to me on a deep level. I feel it is a symbol of how hardship can strengthen people and help us find our real selves. Furthermore, I love that the lilies are only found in the most beautiful and relaxing ponds. I know I am in a special place when I see a pond full of lilies. It’s usually teeming with life – swans, fish, frogs, and plenty of other wildlife are often found in the vicinity. You can never really be lonely at a pond.
